Be Proud Of What We Have Accomplished

As you know, we have lost a lot of rehearsal time over the past few months. I sat down and did the math and I wanted to share the data that makes me incredibly proud of all the staff and students for what we were able to accomplish this summer.

Counting yesterday's rehearsal we would have usually rehearsed for 111 total hours. This year we rehearsed for only 51 total hours.

Usually we would have rehearsed for 45 hours before the 9am-9pm Band Camp days. This year (including the 8 Zoom rehearsals) we only rehearsed for 21 hours before the 9am-9pm Band Camp days.

During the 9am-9pm Band Camp days we would have rehearsed for 51 total hours over the course of 6 days. This year we only rehearsed for 15 hours during those 6 days.

The reason I'm sharing this with all of you is because I'm incredibly proud of what we were able to accomplish despite all of the missed time and other adversity we had to overcome. I want everyone to take a moment and be proud of what we've been able to achieve up to this point. It reminds me of a quote from the writer Dale Carnegie, "Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all." I think all of you have shown how much you care about this program and the goals we're trying to achieve.

I also hope that this data motivates you to keep working hard during the 2 week hiatus so we can pick up from where we left off on Saturday, September 12th! Best of luck with the start of the new school year if I don't get the chance to see you and I look forward to watching all of your upcoming video assignments!
